The indie support for Switch keeps on coming, with Team17 confirming the latest game in the long-running Worms franchise is blasting onto the system.

Worms W.M.D. has quite a different visual style compared to earlier Worms titles but the core gameplay is intact, with teams of invertebrates facing off in 2D battles with ludicrous weapons on destructible environments.

While it originally launched in 2016 for other platforms, the Switch version will launch with some new additions – a space theme, two new forts and a few extra additional customization options.

Needless to say the easy, simple multiplayer afforded by the Switch joy-con make Worms a perfect fit. We’re sure to learn more as we approach the game’s release later in the year.
