Sonic Mania’s got a lot to like about it, but there’s one element from the game I especially love: the soundtrack. A great mix of old favorites and new jams, all touched up and mixed to give each act its own flavor, it stands as one of the best collections of music in the whole series — and that’s really saying something. Recently, two of these songs have been added to the series’ official YouTube page; you can check them out below!

The file select theme, “Sunshine Cassette,” brings back memories of Sonic 3’s own menu with several added layers and flourishes to make it into its own, unique take. It’s the kind of song that gets you pumped to run through the game from start to finish again and again, and it shows that these tracks are solid even outside of the action.

Along for the ride is Studiopolis Act 2’s music, “Prime Time” — building off of Act 1’s own melody and upping the speed and synth to infectious levels. It fits the bright lights and studio vibes of the zone and reminds me just why that brand new zone might be the best of the bunch.

If you’re into these songs as much as I am, and you own the game, there’s a quick and easy trick you can perform to help you listen to your favorites. If you somehow haven’t played it, you should definitely consider getting in on the action while it’s hot. Sonic Mania is one of my highest rated games of the year, one I just can’t stop playing (and listening to) right now.
