When it was first announced that SNES games would be available on New Nintendo 3DS hardware, many retro fans were hyped. Unfortunately, the slow delivery of titles and a relatively shallow pool of options meant it never quite lived up to its full potential.

That said, Japan is about to get a massive wave of fresh classic titles just in time for a special summer sale, including the likes of Final Fantasy IV-VI, Breath of Fire and more. Check out the full list:

  • Breath of Fire
  • Breath of Fire II
  • Castlevania: Dracula X
  • Demon’s Crest
  • Famicom Tantei Club Part II: Ushiro ni Tatsu Shojo
  • Final Fantasy IV
  • Final Fantasy V
  • Final Fantasy VI
  • Ganbare Goemon 2
  • Ganbare Goemon 3
  • Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen
  • Romancing SaGa 2

All of the games will launch on the Japanese eShop on August 23rd. We’ll just have to wait and see if Nintendo brings any of them over.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
