In less than a week, I’ll be speeding through the hybrid nostalgia trip/step forward that is Sonic Mania, and for the second day in a row, Sega has a new video up to mark the occasion. This time it’s a new music track for mini bosses called “Danger on the Dance Floor.” I’m picking up on influences from Sonic 3’s own mini boss theme, as well as shades of Sonic 2’s Mystic Cave, which (if you ask me) is a very good thing.

I’d call it another great musical addition to the game, paying tribute to the past while managing to stand out on its own. Props to Tee Lopes for his compositions so far, as they’ve been getting me even more excited for what’s coming when the game releases in just a few days.

When he isn’t writing for Nintendo Wire, Ricky’s anticipating the next Kirby, Fire Emblem, or if the stars ever align, Mother 3 to be released. Till then he’ll have the warm comfort of Super Smash Bros. to keep him going.
