The Mushroom Kingdom’s finest is getting ready for one of his strangest adventures yet — and if this new trailer is anything to go by, it looks like our favorite plumber’s still got a lot of the personality makes him Mario. Sure, the guns are new, but he’s still got that same smile that we know all too well on his face while bashing enemies with hammers and stomping on their heads. Even a team skill featured off here, where he buffs up his allys’ attack power, shows off how the cheerful plumber can liven up any party.

Having played this before (at E3), Mario’s key skill of being able to attack enemies when they wander into his line of sight is pretty helpful. It can disrupt their movement while also piling on damage, all from the safety of cover — if you plan it just right. We also get to see Mario’s skill tree, with many of the skills looking pretty straight forward (based on their icons). We can also spot a couple familiar symbols like a Super Mushroom and a Coin.

All the little touches and strategic angles the game is bringing have me excited to get my hands back on Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle when it launches on August 29th. It’s time to get hyped!
