Alright squid kids, you have two weeks to perfect your ink before the next Splatfest drops. The first Splatfest for Splatoon 2’s full game that’ll pay out with Super Sea Snails is all about condiments — Mayo vs. Ketchup.

Nintendo UK dropped the announcement on its Twitter account this morning, along with the artwork for the teams. At the moment, we don’t have a specific timeframe other than “the first weekend in August.” Judging by previous Splatfests, the ink colors we’ll be throwing around will more than likely be the same color as the condiments themselves. (Yuuumm, ketchup!)

If you had to pick right now, where would your allegiance lay? Team Mayo or Team Ketchup?

I can already predict the results, USA will be almost all ketchup, Europe will be mixed, possibly leaning mayo, Japan will probably be leaning mayo due to their wide use of mayo in their food but Ketchup will still be strong there.

Actually, I would guess that the colors will be yellow and orange, as they are in the art, rather than white and red. They’ve avoided white and red ink in the past to avoid connotations of… errr, white thick liquid… and blood. I think there was one white ink Splatfest in Japan only.
