Yesterday we brought the unfortunate news that the smaller New Nintendo 3DS models are no longer being produced in Japan. Now, thanks to a message relayed by GameSpot, we know the same holds true of Europe.

This effectively means it’ll be impossible to get a brand-new standard sized New Nintendo 3DS once the already existing stock sells out. The New Nintendo 3DS XL and both 2DS models still seem to be in production at least, for those wanting to play the massive library of 3DS titles.

While Nintendo of America has not commented on ending New Nintendo 3DS production, it could be said it never really entered mass production in the first place. In the States, the smaller model was only sold in limited edition bundles for short periods of time.
