Just this morning, Nintendo UK’s Super Mario Odyssey Twitter account shared a brand new character from the Mario universe who will be making his first appearance in the upcoming title. Moe-Eye — a statue-like creature sporting a gold hoop earring, Mario’s famous mustache and a dashing pair of hot pink shades — appears to have a secret up his stony sleeve (metaphorically speaking). The second tweet reveals an interesting tidbit of information: Putting on the sunglasses provides the ability to see invisible things.

Once Mario applies his hat to the enemy and takes over Moe-Eye, he’s allowed to use the sunglasses’ skill of viewing platforms, Question Blocks and other in-game features that aid Mario throughout his adventures. The Polygon team captured Mario Moe-Eye in action at E3 a few weeks ago and shared more footage of this helpful ability in action.

Check it out!

We’re looking forward to the reveal of more characters from the new Mario title, and we’re sure you’re feeling the same way. Stay tuned, and we’ll keep you posted with the latest information provided by Nintendo.
