Mario has done it all throughout his career as Nintendo’s flagship face: raced karts, partied hard, gone to space, you name it. To the shock of many Mario fans, we’ve recently discovered that he’s also given lectures about traffic safety.

Enter Super Mario Traffic Safety, an instructional video aimed at elementary schoolers in Japan. The video was paired with Super Mario Fire Brigade, but Traffic Safety was unavailable for easy viewing until now. Thanks to the GTV YouTube channel, fans are now able to watch the first half of the 1989 safety video.

Students who sat through the entire video were rewarded with Mario themed name tags and keychains. I sure wish my safety videos were this entertaining! Have a watch below.
