Fans of visual novels take note, as Anonymous;Code, the next game from the studio behind Steins;Gate, will be heading to the Nintendo Switch.

Confirmed at the Chiyo-St. Live 2017 –Genesis- event by the publishers at Mages., and reported on by Siliconera, the game is part of the “Science Visual Novel” series from 5pb. Inc. which includes the aforementioned Steins;Gate, Chaos;Child, Occultic;Nine and several others. While they aren’t typically connected, they all focus on scientific theories.

Anonymous;Code itself looks at the possibility of creating a simulation within a simulation, while simultaneously tackling network time protocol issues like the Y2K and 2038 problems. Of course, there’ll also be a dash of anime to lighten the mood somewhat.

Considering this shows 5pb. is willing to port Science Visual Novel games to a Nintendo platform for the first time, it makes the team’s other big announcement quite exciting. A re-release of Steins;Gate with extra content, subtitled Elite, was revealed at the same event, but no platforms have been confirmed. Could we see the beloved visual novel make the leap to the Switch?

Anonymous;Code, which is also heading to PS4 and Vita, does not yet have a release date in Japan or the west, but we’ll be sure to let you know if and when it is announced.
