Looking to try out some ARMS action before the game drops in June? Fear not, for Nintendo is giving you and millions of others a chance to try it out in person, as it’s announced a “Global Testpunch” (a play on the similarly titled Global Testfire for Splatoon) in the upcoming weeks.

The Global Testpunch will occur on the 26th, 27th and 28th of May, as well as the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of June. The 5/26 and 6/2 Testpunches will be in North America only, but the rest will be truly global. Specific times have not been announced, but we’ll be sure to report on them as soon as they are made available.

The ARMS Direct also aped Splatoon in announcing that the game would have lots of post-launch content available for free, including new characters, stages and ARMS for players to collect. No further details on the content was offered at this time, but if it’s anything like the game’s shooter counterpart it will be more than substantial to support the game past release.

It’s clear that Nintendo is taking lessons from the buildup and launch of Splatoon a few years ago, and applying it to a different genre. What do you think about Nintendo’s strategy for the rollout of ARMS? Let us know in the comments.
