As part of the E3 plans unveiled by Nintendo this morning, the company confirmed two tournaments that will be present at the show. On top of the Splatoon 2 World Inkling Invitational that was announced a few weeks back, there’ll also be an ARMS focused event.

The Splatoon 2 tournament will kick off on June 13th and will feature four pre-qualified squads from the US, Europe, Japan and Australia/New Zealand duking it out. The official SplatoonJP twitter account has already confirmed the Japanese team. Presumably this invitational will take place sometime after the morning’s E3 Spotlight presentation and the following Treehouse streams.

The Arms Open Invitational will take place the following day on June 14th, and all we know so far is that it will involve “Elite Players”. Considering the game itself won’t release worldwide until 2 days later, we can only guess at how Nintendo will pick these fighters. It’s possible they’ll be plucked from the Nico Nico tournament stream from last month, but we’ll have to wait and see.

We’ll be sure to bring coverage from E3 as it happens.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
