Yet another retro-styled indie game has been green-lit for release on the Nintendo Switch later this year – Hyper Sentinel.

Inspired by various games for the ZX Spectrum (the home computer that took Britain by storm in the 1980s), Hyper Sentinel is a shoot ’em up in the vein of Defender or Uridium, where you move back and forth blasting enemies. You can check out some gameplay in the Switch announcement trailer below:

It undeniably carries the ZX Spectrum UI aesthetic into the modern era. We’ll just have to wait and see how well the gameplay holds up.

Hyper Sentinel is set to hit the Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC later this Summer.
