I’ve fallen victim to plenty of Japanese lottery merchandise at this point. Kuji (as lotteries are called here) charge you a flat rate from a guaranteed prize, though the quality of these differ from tier to tier considerably. Most times, you walk away with a small keychain or phone charm, though I once managed a small Pokémon plush. I tend to avoid lottery items these days, even when something I really like is offered. That’s going to be just a bit more difficult for me come May 20th though, when a new Zelda lottery starts up at locations around Japan.

Granted, I’ll probably still be walking away with a key cover or phone charm, and I’ll have no control over which it’ll be, but when the selection is this good it’s not such a bad thing. Even the glasses available are eye-catching in their own right. There are sound effect producing items, a Heart Container dish and Hylian Shield themed backpacks.

The real winner in this series, however, is the Master Sword umbrella. It’d bring a whole new meaning to “the sword that seals the darkness” when it’s shading you on a sunny day, and anyone who’s played Breath of the Wild knows how risky rain can get.

The most amusing item award goes to the Princess Zelda alarm clock. After all, who better to tell you to open your eyes after a long sleep?
