We learned yesterday that the NES Classic Edition has ceased production, with final shipments hitting stores later this month. Anyone after its overseas counterpart will be hit with a second helping of unfortunate news. According to a statement on its official website, it is no longer being made. That said there is a note that if it were to enter production again there would be a follow up notification, though this could very well be the end of the console.

The lineup of games was slightly different between the systems, and of course their physical designs were reflective of their 80’s originals, making both worthwhile for Nintendo collectors. If you’re interested it might be time to look into importing, though they’ve been nearly as difficult to track down as the NES Classic in America.
