It looks like Bomberman is back with a vengeance, after sales data for Super Bomberman R in Japan was released alongside other games in the franchise.

As it stands right now, Super Bomberman R (which launched alongside the Switch earlier this month) has sold nearly 40,000 copies — a huge improvement over the series’ second best-selling title, Bomberman Touch, which only sold about 8,000 copies. While it’s unclear whether or not this is simply because it was one of the Switch’s launch titles, it’s still safe to say that the difference is impressive.

The revival of Bomberman has even prompted Konami to come out and say that there are now plans to revive some of the company’s other well known franchises (Castlevania, anyone?), so hopefully we’ll see a lot more from them in the near future, as well as continued support for the Switch.
