Making a surprise appearance at the Game Developer Conference, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimé used his time on the big screen to make a call to action. His message? Nintendo Switch is an easy platform to develop games for thanks to the Unreal Engine.

“[Bringing Unreal support to the Switch] is the result of a joint commitment to give game developers a proven path for producing high quality games using the trusted tools and workflows already familiar to Unreal developers.”

Reggie goes on to say a number of development teams have already been able to take advantage of the new Unreal support. The brand new Shin Megami Tensei title is built on Unreal, as well as indie titles Snake Pass and Redout.

Hopefully this new partnership will increase the flow of third party titles on the Switch, as the lack of support during the Wii U era was a problem that can’t be repeated. The Switch is only a few days away now, and as Reggie said so simply, happy gaming.
