Fans of classic Japanese strategy RPGs rejoice! Ogre Battle 64 is heading to the Wii U eShop in Europe this Thursday.

The third main entry in the Ogre franchise that started on the SNES, developed by the Quest Corporation, Ogre Battle 64 casts you as the up-and-coming captain Magnus Gallant who is caught in the midst of a civil war. You lead units on a map and strive to capture strongholds and defeat enemy units.

Curiously, Ogre Battle 64 never released on the original system in Europe, making its very belated debut in March 2010 on the Wii. Back then it released the same week in both Europe and North America, so here’s hoping US Wii U owners can pick it up this week, too.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
