In an interview with YouTube personality The Completionist, Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma and Nintendo Creative Fellow Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild can be played in a variety of ways depending on the player’s preference.

Aonuma stated:

“If you want, you can actually approach the final boss from the get go.” “Though you can go to the final boss, but to beat it, you’ll likely be defeated.”

Miyamoto added:

“How you navigate the game is really up to you. You can choose when you want to beat the game or battle the final boss. It’s been a long time since we’ve made a game like this. You can choose how Link gets powered up. You might want to increase your stamina or you might want to increase your hearts.”
