With Super Mario Odyssey being a Holiday 2017 title it is understandably not playable at the various Switch events in the lead-up to release. It won’t be too long till people can start going hands-on with Mario’s latest adventure though, as Reggie has confirmed that it will be playable at E3, in response to a question from IGN:

“The only decision that was made from an E3 consideration standpoint was ‘do we show Super Mario Odyssey from a hands-on perspective today versus E3?’ And we’re going to show it at E3. But at least from a Nintendo perspective, there’s no other consideration that is driven by E3.”

This also marks the first time Nintendo has brought up this year’s E3, confirming their attendance on June 13-15. At E3 2016 Nintendo had a pretty muted presence, only showcasing Breath of the Wild on the show floor and having no traditional Nintendo Direct, but here’s hoping with a brand-new console on store shelves they have a lot more to talk about this year.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
