Nintendo registers new trademark for the Super Famicom controller | Nintendo Wire

You can’t deny that the NES Classic was a smash hit over the holiday season, albeit one that was crippled by a lack of consoles on store shelves. Nintendo probably sees it as a massive success all the same, and it wouldn’t be hard to imagine that the company is already working on a follow-up that focuses on SNES games.

A recent trademark has come to light that could support this idea of a SNES Classic, as it focuses on the Super Nintendo controller itself:

These renewals aren’t exactly rare, the SNES Controller makes cameo appearances in everything from WarioWare to Badge Arcade after all, but it does seem like this renewed trademark is for the physical controller itself.

We’ll just have to wait and see if it amounts to anything but for now it’s definitely curious.

Always excited to see something a little bit different, Tom is ready to report on games of all shapes and sizes, whether they be wonderful or weird (or, better yet, both.) Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
