Wolfenstein 3D has had a robust 20+ year history being ported to consoles such as the Jaguar Atari, Game Boy Advance and even the iPhone. Now, the revolutionary first person shooter has made its way to an unlikely handheld, the Game Boy Color. Swedish programmer Anders Granlund has been rebuilding the game on the Game Boy Color from scratch with pretty amazing results.

The amount of time and effort poured into this recreation is nothing short of extraordinary. With the Game Boy Color being severely limited in how it can display colors and its limited memory resources, it’s fascinating watching Granlund overcome these issues over time. Additional videos of the game running in various states of completion can be found on the official project blog here.
