Yesterday, we reported on a story about what appeared to be a U.S. prototype of the 64DD getting discovered in the wild. While many were skeptical of the find, new information and a video were recently released to put any lingering doubts people had to rest. YouTube personality and respected game collector, Metal Jesus, is the lucky new owner of the rarity and walks us through the ins and outs of his find in his latest video.

The prototype 64DD doesn’t do much at the moment other than load to a launch screen featuring Mario running around a Nintendo 64 logo – and due to a region lock, no Japanese games can be booted. It’s interesting to note, however, that the console also came with an unmarked blue disk. The contents of the disk are sadly a mystery until a developer key cartridge can be located – but that shouldn’t take long for Mr. Jesus to get his hand on. We’ll be waiting with bated breath to see what mysteries this disk contains! Stay tuned to Nintendo Wire and the Metal Jesus Rocks YouTube channel for updates!
