It turns out there’s a bigger team behind the expansive Hyrule in the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild than we first thought – Monolith Soft, the team responsible for the open-world Xenoblade Chronicles X, has been helping out with development.

Veteran designer Shigeru Miyamoto has given more specific details in an interview with GameInformer, noting that over 100 staff members from the development studio are helping with the project.

“People from Tokyo and Kyoto are working together on this. There is a team of over 100 helping work on this project, and their work has really been helpful.”

Monolith Soft became a subsidiary of Nintendo in 2007 and has helped out with multiple projects since, ranging from Super Smash Bros. Brawl to Splatoon. Breath of the Wild, however, seems like their biggest collaboration yet, and it is definitely exciting to see how they help craft the game’s ambitious world.
