Though the Nintendo NX is expected to hit the market early next year, its very existence is still an enigma to those eagerly awaiting its release. Along with even the most basic information about the console, gamers are curious to hear more about what sort of third-party support they can expect.

While some third-party developers have committed to the NX, it’s still unknown which, if any, big name companies will be supporting Nintendo’s next-gen console.

Recently, though, gaming giant Electronic Arts has suggested they may be interested in the system — if it suits them.

“I, personally, and the company are huge fans of Nintendo,” said Patrick Soderlund, executive vice president of EA, in an interview with the BBC. “…They’re the reason I started making games. We’re in constant communication with them and when they come to market something — and if it makes sense for us — we’ll be there.”

Soderlund’s statement follows pledges from companies like Koei Tecmo, who has said it has already begun developing games for the NX.

The Nintendo NX is scheduled for release in March 2017.
