The popular Pokémon spin-off game originally released for the Nintendo DS, Pokémon Ranger, will be getting a Virtual Console release this Thursday in Europe.

However, contrary to what you might think, Ranger is not coming out for the 3DS Virtual Console but instead the Virtual Console on the Wii U, as is the case with other DS games on the service. The reason for this still hasn’t been stated, but the game will be playable on the GamePad touchscreen.

This is the first release of Pokémon Ranger that we’ve seen on any Virtual Console, so I’d say the possibility of seeing it outside of Europe is fairly high. The game will be available for €9.99/£8.99 on Thursday of this week. Stay tuned for more news regarding an international release!
