Metroid Dread is here, and with it comes two new amiibo! Both Samus in her latest suit and the supreme robotic threat that is E.M.M.I. are looking great as figures. They join the existing line of Metroid series figures from the release of Metroid: Samus Returns on 3DS, as well as characters from the series that made it in Super Smash Bros.

What amiibo are compatible with Metroid Dread?

All of the following figures are scannable in Metroid Dread:

  • Samus (Super Smash Bros.)
  • Zero Suit Samus (Super Smash Bros.)
  • Samus Aran (Metroid)
  • Samus (Metroid Dread)
  • Ridley (Super Smash Bros.)
  • Dark Samus (Super Smash Bros.)
  • Metroid
  • E.M.M.I.

What they can do can be split into two distinct varieties, with the two new Metroid Dread amiibo having extra unlockables unique to them.

How do I scan amiibo in Metroid Dread?

To scan any amiibo, simply head to the Options menu with the “-” button while you’re playing – not to be confused with the Map menu reached by pressing “+”. From there, scroll down to the amiibo option, and scan as you like on the next screen.

What do amiibo do in Metroid Dread?

Scanning the Metroid Dread Samus amiibo will give you an extra Energy Tank as a one-time bonus, increasing Samus’ max health by 100 for the rest of the game. This can be done effectively as soon as you start the game, giving you some added protection against more typical enemies you’ll encounter on Planet ZDR.

Similarly, scanning the E.M.M.I. amiibo will give you a Missile Tank + as a one-time bonus. This will increase your maximum missile amount by 10 for the rest of the game, adding to your firepower.

Once you’ve gained those one-time bonuses, both amiibo will still be usable along with the rest of the listed Metroid amiibo for one of two bonuses once per day. While a single figure will grant its bonus only once per day, you can still scan each of them across a day – you can scan both a  Smash Bros. Samus figure and Metroid Dread Samus figure in the same day despite them granting the same effect.

The following amiibo will recover 200 health once tapped, making them great as a quick heal when things get dire:

  • Samus (Super Smash Bros.)
  • Zero Suit Samus (Super Smash Bros.)
  • Samus Aran (Metroid)
  • Samus (Metroid Dread)

The following amiibo will instead refill 30 missiles once per day, keeping your more powerful ammo option topped off:

  • Ridley (Super Smash Bros. series)
  • Dark Samus (Super Smash Bros. series)
  • Metroid
  • E.M.M.I.
