Polish those Rathalos saddles and sharpen your switch axes: Capcom has confirmed that Monster Hunter Stories is set to release later this year on October 8th in Japan!

Three new amiibo are also set to launch alongside the game with even more to be released sometime during the winter. The initial run will consist of both male and female versions of the main protagonist riding a one-eyed Rathalos, with their felyne companion Nabiru rounding out the set. While scanning them within the game is currently confirmed to unlock the use of special monsters, specifics regarding exactly which monsters remains a mystery. The Felyne amiibo will retail for 1200 yen (U.S $11) while the two dragon riders will come in at 1800 yen or roughly $16.

Monster Hunter Stories is an upcoming turn-based RPG with a much larger emphasis on storytelling than previous games in the series. The game follows a young Rider who sets off on a journey to explore the world beyond his or her home village, befriending a colorful cast of characters and monsters along the way.
