Every year, Japanese clothing company Uniqlo hosts a global and open T-shirt design competition, with monetary prizes and the winner’s design becoming an actual product in their stores. Back in 2017 the theme was Nintendo as a whole, with several designs making it through to stores and fans’ closets. Now for 2019 things are a little more focused, though no less far and wide, with it being all about Pokémon.

Starting on October 23rd and running ’til December 2nd, designs can be submitted to become the next must-have clothing item for fans Gens I through VII. While it’ll be hard to beat Pikachu and Eevee this year, there’s so much potential for great designs, Pokémon representation, and for designers to be the very best. During Nintendo’s year last time, 25 designs were produced, meaning that just because there can only be one champion, there should be plenty to choose from once these are on shelves.

When he isn’t writing for Nintendo Wire, Ricky’s anticipating the next Kirby, Fire Emblem, or if the stars ever align, Mother 3 to be released. Till then he’ll have the warm comfort of Super Smash Bros. to keep him going.
