The one and only Reggie Fils-Aimé took on a challenge from The Game Awards’ host and creator Geoff Keighley at E3 2018. It wasn’t the first time Keighley and Nintendo of America’s President have crossed rackets at E3, with the rivalry beginning in Wii Sports Tennis. Mario’s hitting the court again soon, so it was about time this rematch took place in Aces.
We both had crazy schedules this year, but in the last hour of @e3 2018, we made it happen: Geoff vs. Reggie in Mario Tennis Aces! 12 years after our first E3 tennis battle in Wii Sports. pic.twitter.com/7rPkqiDSN3

Highlights include Reggie’s stoic, unshaken stance in the face of Keighley’s more energetic swings and the blatant callout to Waluigi’s continued absence in Smash. Oh Reggie, you know this doesn’t get Nintendo off the hook in that department, but the gesture (not to mention a certain other gesture in the clip) is much appreciated.
It was good to see this followup match come together, and thanks to it I’m that much more excited to try challenging some calls and rallying some balls in Swing Mode with friends once Mario Tennis Aces launches this Friday.
