Following this morning’s report that Switch user’s play activity for titles they played on Switch launch day was being erased as the anniversary rolled around, Nintendo of America has acknowledged the incident with a somewhat-vague tweet, embedded below:
Some Nintendo Switch owners’ play activity information is displaying incorrectly. We are aware of the issue and we expect to have more information to share in the near future.

While this doesn’t provide a clear-cut answer for the users who are experiencing the problem, it does show that Nintendo is aware, and that the issue is unintended.
Hopefully a fix rolls around soon that will prevent this from happening in the future, as well as restores the activity time of affected players.
