HAL Laboratory has always hit that sweet spot for me, and a lot of that came down to Kirby and company. More recently though there’s been a more angular ally in the company’s lineup: BoxBoy!’s Qbby. This simple and adorable little cube has started to cross over into Dream Land already thanks to Kirby Battle Royale’s amiibo support — and it looks like this March he’ll make another appearance.
Some hands-on videos have been popping up here and there, and in this one from Nintenderos we’re actually able to see that Stone has a transformation featuring a tiny Qbby. It’s the perfect place for a shoutout, as the Stone ability has long been the go-to place for cross-Kirby references, but it’s great to see HAL rep itself even more.
We’ll be able to see plenty more of Stone and the rest of the game’s abilities as we come closer and closer to March 16th when it launches on the Nintendo Switch.
