In a bizarre situation that reflects the original game’s release, Ubisoft has just announced that Rayman Legends Retold will be getting delayed to December 3rd, 2026. Originally scheduled for an October 1st release, this is similar to what the original game went through years ago. Planned as a Wii U exclusive, the game would wind up getting delayed so that Ubisoft could create ports for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. Funny how time repeats like that.
Another strange coincidence with this delay is that it puts it close to Grand Theft Auto VI’s release, which is similar to the original game. When Rayman Legends released in early September 2013, it was mere weeks away from Grand Theft Auto V’s initial release. The tables have turned this time, where VI will hit before Retold, but Ubisoft seemingly can’t escape the vortex of Rockstar when it comes to Rayman projects.
On social media, the company wrote, “While the game has official gone gold, we have decided to take extra time to make sure every detail gets the care it deserves.” It then reminded fans that a “Game Overview” trailer will release on September 22 alongside impressions pieces from press and content creators. We’ll have a pretty good idea of how the game looks and feels before release, so this delay shouldn’t wind up being bad.
