Out of nowhere, developer Tribute Games has released some new paid DLC for Scott Pilgrim EX, the long-awaited sequel to the original 2010 classic that hit PC and consoles earlier this year. Filling out the roster with three new characters and assist characters, thanks to the “Back in the Band” DLC, players can now jump into the fray as Stephen Stills, Kim Pine, and Knives Chau to take on the latest threat to Scott and Ramona’s relationship. I’m actually surprised to learn Knives wasn’t originally in the game, but at least that has been rectified.

What’s more interesting sounding is the free “Coin-Co Chaos” arcade update. This introduces a more traditional arcade-styled progression system to the game’s campaign, which is normally more akin to River City Ransom than classic brawlers. “Inspired by the golden age of arcade brawlers,” reads the official description, “the mode streamlines progression from stage to stage and adds lives, credits, score chasing and local rankings.” That sounds fantastic for replays where you simply want to punch things without worry about leveling up.

Both the update and DLC should be available on all digital storefronts right now. On Steam, the “Back in the Band” DLC goes for $3.99, which isn’t too bad for extra characters in an already quite robust beat-em-up. You can bundle up and save a little by getting the game and its DLC for $25 currently.
