While yesterday’s trailer for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis during Sony’s “State of Play” presentation didn’t mention it (for obvious reasons), Amazon Game Studios has confirmed that Lara Croft’s next adventure/remake will be heading to Nintendo Switch 2 next year. Launching on February 12th, 2027, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo’s latest console, the game is a from the ground up remake of the first game that launched 30 years ago on Sega Saturn, PS1, and PC.

Amazon has stated that players on Switch 2 can expect “the same cinematic scale and fluid gameplay, fully optimized.” I’m not sure what that means, but I wouldn’t expect Legacy of Atlantis to run at 60 fps on the device. We recently saw a port of 2013’s Tomb Raider reboot and it struggled to run decently. At the same time, this latest game is built on Unreal Engine 5, which recently received some pretty big overhauls for how it performs on Nintendo’s console.

You can read the full press release below, which came with a number of screenshots:

  • Reveal the Mysteries of the Past: The classic story has been expanded with deeper connections that bridge Lara Croft’s defining adventure to her future.
  • Discover Extraordinary and Dangerous Worlds Lost to Time: Explore treacherous landscapes filled with ancient artifacts and hidden secrets, from the jungles of Peru to the crumbling ruins of Greece, the deserts of Egypt, and a mysterious island shrouded in myth.
  • Skillfully Traverse Deadly Environments: Use Lara’s strength, agility, and grappling hook to climb, leap, and swing across perilous terrain.
  • Solve Ingenious Ancient Contraptions: Manipulate hidden mechanisms and the environment to unseal secrets locked away for centuries. Every solution combines knowledge you’ve uncovered and clever thinking.
  • Face Lethal Predators: Armed with Lara’s signature dual pistols and other unlockable weapons, use acrobatic abilities to unleash devastating attacks against savage wildlife, mercenaries, and mythological creatures.
