Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds may have fallen below sales expectations, but that’s not stopping Sega from continuing to support the game. In an announcement this morning, the company revealed that three new free characters are coming to the game over the next two months. Ranging from Angry Birds to Yakuza and even Puyo Puyo, the DLC feels like a fun little way to pay homage to franchises that Sega owns and collaborates with.
The first character will be Red from Angry Birds. Set to release in April 2026, Red will come with the “Super Roaster” vehicle. Following that, Captain Goro Majima from Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will be added with his “Goromaru” vehicle. He is also scheduled for April 2026. The last character will be Arle from Puyo Puyo, who is planned for May 2026. She’ll have the “Twinkle Bayoen” vehicle available to drive.
In addition to the free characters, eight new songs will be added to the jukebox to rock out to while racing. The following tracks have been confirmed by Sega:
- MAGICAL SOUND SHOWER – Hiro (From Outrun)
- Let’s Go Away – Takenobu Mitsuyoshi (From Daytona USA)
- Soul on Desert – Jun Senoue (From SEGA Rally 2)
- Like The Wind (B Course) Arcade Version – Hiro (From Power Drift)
- Outside a Crisis – Sega (Katsuhiro “Funky K.H” Hayashi) (From Super Hang-on)
- Main Theme (Enduro Racer) – Hiro (From Enduro Racer)
- God Only Knows – A-One
- Like the Wind (Reborn) – Sampling Masters MEGA (From Power Drift)
The free characters are all part of what Sega calls the “wider Patch 3 update.” Patch 3 for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will hit all platforms on March 18th, 2026, at 5 p.m. PT | 7 p.m. CT | 8 p.m. ET. I believe that will contain the eight new songs with the characters coming later.
