Pokémon Pokopia can’t stop winning. After selling through its physical edition around the world and helping drive Nintendo’s stock prices up, it seems the game is off to a ridiculously good start in terms of sales. Nintendo has announced that over the weekend, Pokopia sold 2.2 million copies worldwide, making it one of the bigger Pokémon successes in a while. Roughly half of those sales were in Japan, too.
In a further breakdown of physical and digita, per Famitsu, Pokopia moved 541,371 physical copies in Japan. While that trend is shifting more towards digital, it could be that gamers simply couldn’t find a physical copy at their local retailers. It’s weird to think Nintendo assumed a Pokémon game wouldn’t be a success, though I guess a brand-new spinoff in a totally unrelated genre is always a gamble. At any rate, Pokopia looks to be an evergreen hit for the company.

Stacked up against other Nintendo Switch 2 exclusives, Pokopia is now in the top five best-selling games on the console so far. There aren’t really more than that, but Pokopia has done better than Kirby Air Riders (1.76 million), and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment (1 million). Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has also sold fewer copies than Pokopia despite being available on Switch 1 and 2.
