Publisher Square Enix has confirmed that a new Life is Strange game is in development and will be revealed soon. Announcing a trailer (or stream?) for January 20th, 2026, at 1 p.m. ET, it seems the publisher wants to get ahead of all the rumors and speculation that have hit the net in the last few weeks.

Last week, a rating for a game titled “Life is Strange: Reunion” was leaked on the PEGi website (and has since been removed). It included a description reading, “Chloe Price was Max Caulfield’s partner in time… Losing her is Max’s greatest regret. Now Chloe has come to Caledon University. Haunted by nightmares and impossible memories, Chloe needs Max’s help. But Max is already in crisis: in three days, a deadly inferno will destroy the campus.”

During August of last year, rumors started to spread that a sequel to Life is Strange: Double Exposure was in the works at developer Deck Nine. At the time, an alleged ex-employee of Deck Nine stated, “It is Double Exposure 2, with a more likely release of 2026. DE2 was part of Square’s contract with Deck Nine for DE. It was never not going to be made.” That definitely seems likely as it would be far too late to change plans now.

Whatever the result, we’ll know for certain next Tuesday.
