Last night, with next to no fan fare, Nintendo shadow dropped Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance for its Nintendo GameCube Classics app on Nintendo Switch Online. Available to expansion pack subscribers with a Switch 2, this is now the eighth GameCube classic to be made available on the console. Often regarded as one of the best Fire Emblem games, it’s the entry where fan-favorite character Ike comes from. It’s also a rather substantial game, clocking in at 30+ hours to finish its campaign.
Released in 2005 towards the tail end of the GameCube’s life, Path of Radiance features fully-voiced cutscenes and fully 3D maps, much like later installments. Set on the continent of Tellius, the story concerns two races living in constant strife that must do battle against sinister forces from the shadows. I’m not overly familiar with the plot (it’s been like 20 years since I’ve played this), but I do recall it being compelling enough.

You can play Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance right now if you’re a Switch Online subscriber and have access to a Switch 2. It’s probably one of the better games released so far, though Nintendo has kept the quality of GameCube titles relatively high.
