As spotted on Reddit over the weekend, Walmart now has Metroid Prime 4: Beyond demo kiosks available in-store. Giving players 20 minutes to experience a small portion of the prologue, the demo lets you run around the Federation base while it is under attack by Space Pirates. This is likely similar to the footage shown last year before a proper Nintendo Switch 2 edition was announced.

If you don’t have a Walmart near you, fear not. Other users are stating that they’ve seen the demo at GameStop, Target, and Best Buy. There’s a chance some local stores may also have a kiosk available, so you’ll either need to call and check or just stop by for a visit. It’s a little odd that Nintendo hasn’t released this demo on the eShop, but the company could be trying to avoid datamining that might spoil some secrets. Something similar happened with Donkey Kong Bananza, which did not receive a downloadable demo until the main game was available for a month.

At the moment, it seems like only the Switch 2 version of the game is out in the wild. The Switch version is said to run at 60 fps, so it likely will not be a sloppy or worse feeling port. You will lose out on mouse controls and HDR, but that shouldn’t matter too much.
