As part of yesterday’s PC Gaming Show at TGS stream, Nightdive Studios announced that the legendary Monolith fps Blood would be getting a second remaster. While that’s a little disappointing from a legal standpoint (it’s long been rumored that WB Games and Atari have kept Blood in legal limbo), there is a silver lining: this will be the first time that console players will get the chance to experience the game. Despite all ‌the accolades and the cult status the game has amassed over the years, Blood has only ever been a PC exclusive.

Dubbed Blood: Refreshed Supply, this re-remaster has one notable difference from the previous Nightdive release of Blood: Fresh Supply, which was released in 2019. I suppose since more money was on the table, WB Games and Atari have miraculously found the original source code for Blood, so this latest remaster can be entirely faithful to the original experience. When Fresh Supply first released, it had some notable bugs that prevented it from being the definitive Blood experience. Updates helped bring the game closer to the original, but Atari’s stipulations prevented Nightdive from updating it further. Now, those limitations are removed and Monolith’s crowning achievement can get the modern iteration it deserves.

Not content to make this the definitive release of the game and nothing more, Nightdive will also be teaming up with mod makers to officially integrate two of Blood’s most popular mods: Marrow, and Death Wish. They will be included alongside the main campaign and some new levels likely developed by Nightdive. As the studio’s CEO, Stephen Kick, said on social media, “The plan is to have them [the mod makers] form the base of a new team that will create new expansions for other classic Nightdive titles games.”

Blood: Refreshed Supply release date

All in all, this sounds like a pretty damn good release. I’m not exactly thrilled that PC players will have to pay a second time just to get an updated version of Blood, but it’s a small price to pay for what should wind up being the ultimate version of one of the best ’90s fps games around. It will also be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, so that’s another bonus. Blood: Refreshed Supply is scheduled for release on December 4th, 2025. It will retail for $29.99.
