In what is likely to turn out to be merely a rumor, the Instagram account for Cinépolis El Salvador (a movie theater chain in El Salvador) may have accidentally leaked some of the new characters set to be featured in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. In a post on the platform from when Nintendo and Universal unveiled the film, a description for the film reads the following (DO NOT READ BELOW IF YOU WANT TO AVOID SPOILERS):

“Mario, Luigi, Peach and Yoshi join forces against Wario and Bowser Jr.”
This was first noticed by GameXplain and then picked up by other outlets. Initially, I thought it might be false as, in the comments on Go Nintendo, someone mentions that the information comes from the Spanish IMDb page. Literally anyone can edit IMDb, so there is a chance this is false information being spread by a national chain. At the same time, it’s entirely possible the company has information the public does not.
Whatever the case, there are bound to be new characters in the Galaxy film, and bringing Wario and Bowser Jr. along makes sense. Neither plays a prominent role in the Galaxy games (and Wario is only in one Mario game), but they are well-known figures to fans of the series. I call this plausible, even if it’s still just a rumor.
