When looking back at JRPGs and their communities over the years, a concern that will come up time and time again is localization. Oftentimes, especially in the past, whether or not a new game would see release outside of Japan felt like a coinflip. Ys X: Nordics, the latest entry in the Ys series, took over a full year to see worldwide release as an example. Therefore, when the enhanced edition, Ys X: Proud Nordics, was first revealed for Nintendo Switch 2 in Japan, many wondered when it would make its way elsewhere, if it would at all. Fortunately, we now know that the game will be coming to the West sometime next year!
Ys X: Proud Nordics serves as the definitive edition of the original release. The game introduces a whole host of extra content such as new abilities, a very difficult dungeon, and an entirely new storyline. While there’s no upgrade path for those who own the original, this enhanced release of the game brings with it a new way to enjoy the original game again. It even features 120 FPS support on the Switch 2, dialing the performance up to a whole new level.
While Ys X: Proud Nordics isn’t available outside of Japan quite yet, the game has been confirmed to be coming sometime in 2026 to both the Switch 2 and PC. If you’re looking for ways to tide yourself over, there’s a brand-new English trailer available as part of the announcement, so be sure to check it out in the meantime!
