For the fortunate few that have had the chance to travel to Japan and experience the Nintendo Museum in person, there’s about to be an entirely new way to take in the sights and sounds of Nintendo’s history. As announced on the official Nintendo Museum Twitter account this morning, an art gallery will be opening on the second floor of the location starting on September 3rd, 2025. Including character illustrations, concept art, and more, this will be an exciting new way to relive memories of your favorite games and learn about the history of their development.
The Art Gallery will open on Wednesday, September 3rd on the 2nd floor of the Nintendo Museum Exhibition Building. Visitors can explore a wide range of game artwork, including character illustrations and concept art.

The Nintendo Museum opened on October 2nd, 2024, in Kyoto, Japan. It hosts various exhibits dedicated to the history of the company, including interactive experiences based on various toys and video games. One of the more memorable exhibits tasks two people with operating giant controllers from classic consoles to complete in-game challenges. There’s also a rather nifty gift shop that sells plush versions of each controller (which I need in my life). It seems Nintendo will continue to expand the museum in the future, which is certainly an enticing way to get people coming back time and again.
