Sonic X Shadow Generations is just a couple weeks away, and Sega’s just checked off a big, fanservice-y box on their prerelease plans. Dark Beginnings, a three part animated series focused on Shadow, has just had its final episode go live.

The full series is full of deeper Sonic series cuts than these animated specials have had in the past. The obvious ones are to Shadow the Hedgehog, the anti-hero’s mid-2000’s starring role, and Sonic Heroes via the prominence of Team Dark. Alongside those are callbacks to Sonic Battle, Sonic Adventure 2, and even Sonic Generations itself.
Anyone excited for Sonic x Shadow Generations should give this prologue a watch before the game arrives on October 25th.
