The time that 3DS and Wii U owners have been dreading is fast-approaching, as the ability to purchase games on the Nintendo eShop for both systems will be discontinued on March 27th at 5 p.m. PT. This discontinuation means that after March 27th, the only titles you will be able to obtain from the eShop for Wii U and 3DS will be games you’ve purchased before that date.
Once you’re content with the titles you own, you may have a leftover balance sitting in your eShop account. If so, you can merge this balance with your Nintendo Account balance to be used on your Nintendo Switch, but you will only have roughly one year to do so, as Nintendo has confirmed that the wallet merge service will be ending in March 2024.
Reminder: As of 3/27/2023, purchases on #eShop for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS will be discontinued.
Until March 2024, you can merge your unused Nintendo eShop balance to your Nintendo Account, so that it can be used on #NintendoSwitch.
