Recently, designer James Turner is most notable for his work on the Pokémon Sword and Shield games, but his history with working on the franchise goes way back. In fact, Turner recently shared a treat particularly for fans of the 2006 Wii title Pokémon Battle Revolution.
During a tidy-up, Turner came across an old portfolio from 2009, containing designs for the protagonists of the game.
Doing a deep tidy and I found an ancient 2009 portfolio with the original designs I did for the Pokémon Battle Revolution characters…quite nostalgic. pic.twitter.com/3YRpuVdIuA

In a followup tweet, Turner also says he “designed all the characters [in the game] and oversaw the designs of the different outfits, which were drawn by another artist.” You can catch some examples of those characters below.
Oh yep, I designed that guy!

Yes! I enjoyed designing her. I just called her Ribbon…can’t remember what her real name ended up being 🤔

This isn’t the first time that Turner has surprised Pokémon fans by sharing his art on Twitter. Earlier this year, he paid tribute to Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, and even celebrated Star Wars Day with “Darth Pika.”
