A long wait after Min Min’s long reach, we finally know who’s next up for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate! None other than Steve was revealed as part of today’s brief broadcast. Hailing from Minecraft, they’ll be the next fighter coming as part of Fighters Pass Vol. 2.

Creator Masahiro Sakurai spoke briefly about the inclusion after the trailer drop, citing Minecraft’s place as the best selling game in the world. Nintendo approached him with the idea, putting Sakurai and his talents to work. Steve and the Minecraft aesthetic proved a new and unique challenge from a development perspective.
Steve will get a further breakdown on October 3rd from Sakurai-san ahead of Minecraft Live, airing at 7:30 am PT.
