It seems incredibly unlikely that 2024 megahit Palworld will ever wind up on a Nintendo platform, but that’s not for a lack of trying from developer Pocketpair. We’ve pretty extensively covered the various twists and turns Nintendo’s lawsuit against the company has taken, but it seems Pocketpair CEO Takuru Mizobe isn’t letting that deter him from trying to get the Pokémon clone on Switch 2.
In an interview with VGC recently, Mizobe said, “If there’s ever a future where we have the opportunity to discuss or consider bringing Palworld to the Switch platform in some way, then we’d love to have those conversations.” Previously, the company noted the technical limitations of the original Nintendo Switch made it improbable that Palworld would happen, but the increased hardware grunt of the Switch 2 has allowed for much more complex games to be developed by third parties.
“I should say that we think the Switch 2 is a really amazing platform,” Mizobe stated, “not just for games globally, but especially here in Japan and for the Japanese games industry. It’s been an incredible platform.” That’s almost underselling it, as the Switch 2 often outperforms the Xbox Series S thanks to its inclusion of Nvidia’s DLSS technology. Most people would not mistake Nintendo’s latest device as a true “next-gen” console, but the gulf in hardware has been minimized so much that it might not even matter anymore.

Still, the main barrier stopping a port right now is the ongoing lawsuit Nintendo has against Pocketpair. VGC had asked Mizobe about this, but he was unable to answer due to ongoing litigation. The legal battle probably won’t be ending anytime soon, but the Tokyo District Court is set to convene on November 9th, 2026, to disclose its preliminary view. Maybe there is still some hope left for Pocketpair.
