Sega has announced that last year’s hit revival Shinobi: Art of Vengeance will be hitting Nintendo Switch 2 on September 24th, 2026. A semi-reboot of the Shinobi series with a brilliant new art style, Art of Vengeance had a rather lackluster Switch 1 port that ultimately did a disservice to the beautiful artwork that developer Lizardcube created. This Switch 2 version should fix that by including increased resolution output.

That’s really all we know about the Switch 2 version, however. In an official press release from Sega, the company merely mentions the release date, “updated resolution,” and the details of the digital deluxe edition. The eShop page has given us a price, with the standard digital version costing £24.99 / $29.99, while the digital deluxe costs £34.99 / $39.99. It also mentions 1080p output for handheld mode, which is technically possible with the Switch 1 version running in boost mode on Nintendo’s newest console.

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance Switch 2 physical release

If you’d rather have a physical release, Sega is creating a new one for both PlayStation 5 and Switch 2 that includes four translucent art cards and an art book. It’s also on a Game-Key Card, because why wouldn’t it be? For that matter, Sega has not mentioned anything about an upgrade path for current Switch owners, meaning you’ll have to rebuy the game outright to get any Switch 2 improvements. Bummer.
